CALL FOR ABSTRACT


All participants are invited to submit abstracts for oral presentation or posters by December 20, 2009. One topic must be chosen from the topics:

Abstract Submission Open: October 15, 2009
Abstract Submission Deadline: December, 20, 2009, 24:00 local time
Extended abstract submission deadline: January 9, 2010 (24:00 local time)
Notification of Acceptance: January 20, 2010

Rules for Submission                                                                  
All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will not be accepted for review. In order to standardize the abstract layout we kindly ask you to read the preparation guidelines carefully. We encourage you to submit early to ensure prompt confirmation and processing.

  1. Submit an abstract ONLY through Submission Online, and thus not by letter, fax, e-mail or on disk / CD.
  2. The abstract must be written in ENGLISH.
  3. The title is not to indicate the country of origin, unless it is pertinent to the topic.
  4. The body of the abstract is limited to 400 words (minimum 150 words), excluding the title and contact information on authors. It is recommend using word-processing software (for example Word) for editing your abstract and counting the number of words.
  5. Font size should be no bigger than 12 pt Times New Roman.
  6. Please put the title in CAPITAL letters. The title should be concise and indicate the content of the abstract.
  7. Abstract are to be text only. Table, pictures, figures, symbols, diagrams and graphs should not be included in the abstract.
  8. There is no limit on the number of abstracts an author may submit.
  9. It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract; any errors in spelling, grammar, or scientific facts will be published as typed by the author, if accepted. If you need help, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a colleague who is a native English speaker, by a university scientific publications office (or other similar facility) or by a copy editor, prior to submission. Poor English may be a cause for rejection.
  10. Abstracts must be submitted by the presenting author who should complete all fields on the online submission form.
  11. The presenting author will be required to register for the Congress in order to ensure their abstract(s) are included in the oral/poster program and eligible to present their papers in the Congress.
  12. Abstracts whose authors did not register to attend the meeting risk being withdraw.
  13. The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission and of all communications thereafter.
  14. Changes in the abstract are possible until December 20, 2009 through your Personal Page, which can be accessed with the password and email included in the electronic confirmation of receipt.
  1. Sessions may not go ahead if there are insufficient abstracts submitted. Abstracts submitted in any session that is not going ahead will be re-allocated to a different session by the Program Committee.
  2. Abstracts are not eligible if already presented at an international meeting or would be published prior to the 2010 ASPR Congress.

Abstract Content                                                                        
Abstracts stating merely that the results will be presented or discussed are considered uninformative and will be subject to rejection. Abstracts will include the following sections:

  • Objective (Aim of the Study): stating concisely why the study was conducted
  • Methods
  • Main Results: confirming or refuting the hypothesis, supported by statistics if appropriate
  • Conclusion

 

Instructions for Abstract Submission                                                                    
Before you begin, please prepare the following information:

  • You will need a user account to submit the abstract. To crate a user account, please click [Create a new account]   on the submission system.
  • Presenting author’s contact detail (Email address, full postal address, daytime and evening phone number).
  • The presenting author’s name must be written in bold.
  • Author and co-authors’ details (full first and family name(s), affiliation details and email(s)).
  • Presentation type (please choose one from oral and poster presentation).
  • If you wish to WITHDRAW an abstract, please contact the Congress Secretariat before January 20, 2009.Otherwise the abstracts will be published in the abstract book and/or be posted on the Congress website if accepted.

Review Process                                                                         
The abstract selection process for 2010 ASPR is organized under the auspices of the Asian Pacific Pediatric Association. All submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed by multiple members of the Scientific Committees. Scoring is based on originality, importance and ethics of the work. The highest graded abstracts accepted will be presented as oral or poster presentation at the Congress. Author’s preferred presentation mode is usually honored thought not guaranteed to be satisfied.

On the basis of the review, your abstract will be categorized as one of the following:

Accept
: The paper is accepted with no editing requirements to be included in the book of abstracts.
Reject: No suitable for presentation at the Congress.
Reject and resubmit: The paper is rejected unless the authors can make satisfactory responses to the reviewers’ concerns. The paper will then be accepted only if all the concerns are addressed to the satisfaction of the reviewers.

Notification of Acceptance                                                           
Abstracts accepted for presentation will be published on the website prior to the Congress and all accepted abstract authors will be notified by e-mail. It is the responsibility of the presenting author to inform the other authors about the status of the abstract. Scheduling details and instructions oral/poster presentations will be included with this correspondence. All the accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book or on the CD-ROM, which will be distributed to each registered participants at the Congress.

Only abstracts sent through the system will be accepted. To enter into the system you need your credentials that you received when submitting your short abstract. If you have forgotten the credentials please click on the login page the FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD button and order your password by sending your e-mail address (which you used for the first abstract). You will receive a password to your e-mail address.
